How Do Various Shipborne Satcom Antennas Work?

China has vast sea areas and is a maritime power. With the development of China's shipbuilding industry, the demand for shipborne satcom systems in the Chinese market is increasingly prominent, which has put forward many requirements. Here are some explanations for reference.


The system overall scheme and structural design of shipborne satcom are firstly carried out


For Ku-band shipborne satcom system, the system overall structure based on satellite signal processing, stabilization and tracking, and antenna is designed. A brushless DC torque motor is used as the actuator, and a combination of GPS, attitude reference system, and beacon unit is used for attitude measurement.


The core control hardware system of shipborne satcom is designed


The circuit design of the power module, control core module, sensor module, and motor drive module is completed by modular design. On this basis, the spatial attitude analysis and solution of the three-axis stabilization and tracking system is carried out, and the dynamic process and principle of the system are analyzed in detail.


Based on attitude solution, the mathematical model of the motor control system of shipborne satcom is established


To effectively overcome the complex nonlinear factors such as parameter uncertainty, unmodeled dynamics, and disturbances, an adaptive robust controller is designed. The theoretical analysis proves that the controller can effectively overcome various uncertain factors, and the effectiveness of the controller is verified through simulation by adjusting controller parameters to achieve the required tracking precision.


By using modular thinking, the software design of the system of shipborne satcom is carried out


The program design and debugging of three modules, including sensor data decoding, system initialization, and system stabilization and tracking, are completed.


Finally, the joint debugging of system software and hardware is carried out, and the debugging results are analyzed. The experimental results show that the system meets the expected index requirements.


At present, composite active antennas are basically used for ship satcom on ships. Active antennas are used for ship satcom services such as voice, data, and positioning to provide an inter-ship-to-ship and ship-to-satellite relay channel with anti-destruction, anti-interference, high efficiency, and real-time information transmission, continuously transmitting voice, data, dynamic images, and multimedia information.


In the actual navigation of ship carriers, it is difficult to completely align and track the satellite in the lateral and longitudinal oscillations and attitude changes, resulting in signal drift and communication failure. The composite active antenna is used to solve the tracking precision problem, adopting the Kalman mathematical derivation process and actual data acquisition algorithm to achieve the tracking precision of ship carriers and solve the tracking precision problem of fast real-time satcom, realizing the fast real-time communication of satcom systems and the transmission of voice, data, dynamic images, and multimedia information.
